Safeguarding EU-India Relations in the Face of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference
On 18 December 2023, the Delegation of the EU to India and Bhutan hosted a closed-door event in Brussels on the pressing topic of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) based on a research project under the EU-India Think Tanks Twinning Initiative of 2022–2023.

Experts from both the EU and India convened to delve into the rising incidence of FIMI within their respective regions. The event shed light on concerted efforts coming from Russia and China in this area and it underscored the need for EU-India collaborative information sharing and policy refinement.

On this occasion, the event featured remarks by Lutz Güllner, Head of Strategic Communications, European External Action Service; Prof. Dr. Daniel Fiott, Head of the Defence and Statecraft Programme, Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy, VUB; Dr. Ankita Dutta, Former Fellow, Observer Research Foundation; and Patryk Kugiel, Senior Analyst, Polish Institute for International Affairs (PISM). The roundtable was moderated by Prof. Dr. Giulia Tercovich, EUPOP India Outreach Coordinator and Assistant Director of Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy, VUB.
